RERCY ZOLA-ZABA
I AM SORRY FROM FUTURE HIM?
Twilight fell
The skyline dazzled with pretty colors as the sun bid farewell for the day
We were out for a stroll on the usual path surrounded by sunflowers
Like usual drunk by the eerie yet fascinating sunset
I was playfully walking a bit ahead of him taking in all the beauty of nature
“Emily” he shouted from behind
Something was odd
His voice
The way he called my name was enough to send chills down my spine
I turned back to look at him
My cheerful look turned to a worried look
A tearful face looked back at me
An air of melancholy surrounded him
In a dejected voice he uttered the words, “I am sorry”
I opened my mouth to ask why but as if he read my mind he hurriedly said
“Don’t ask me why I am sorry because even I don’t know why’’
I gave him a hug and we both brushed it off as nothing
Fast forward to a year later after the incidence
I am on the same path out for a stroll
But I am alone
He is gone
His presence is my companion
A ghost you may call it
Who could have ever known that he was saying sorry for leaving too soon?
